Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the state, producing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Destruction
Homeowners reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered power outages after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled 598 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both regions.
Safety Concern
Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
