Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to restore power.
