Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
A senior official said the vandalism made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
